New Delhi: In an unusual move, the Union Home Ministry has allowed Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla to take his Personal Security Officer armed while accompanying him on civilian flights.
An order in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs recently, official sources said.
64-year-old Chawla already enjoys protection under the 'Z' category. No reason was mentioned for the decision where an armed person will be among the passengers.
The Ministry communicated its order to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security who subsequently issued an advisory to all airports.
