Empty pistol seized from baggage of woman

Nedumbassery(kochi): An empty pistol was seized today by Air India personnel from the baggage of a 27-year-old woman on her way to Mumbai from here.The woman has been taken into custody, police said.
Airport officials said the woman has been identified as Harpreeth Kaur from Punjab, presently staying at Delhi. She was part of a 16-member team of tourists, six of them women, who came to Kerala on April 6, they said, adding that all of them had arrived in the airport to leave for Mumbai.
Security personnel noticed the pistol during X-ray of the woman's baggage and immediately alerted the police, who took her into custody.
Police and security personnel were on high alert in the airport in the wake of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi's visit to Kerala today who returned to Delhi in the evening.
