Bangalore: Karnataka unit of the Janata Dal (United) has decided to contest against all parties, including BJP, in five to eight constituencies in the State.
To a query, the leader said that party would give support to independent candidates such as Capitan Gopinath, who entered the poll fray from Bangalore South constituency. BJP's H. N. Ananth Kumar and Congress's Krishna Byrge Gowda are other formidable candidates in the constituency.
Captain Gopinath, the architect of Indian low budget Airliner, Air Deccan, which merged with India's premier Airliner Kingfisher Airlines, will file his nomination papers to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections for the Bangalore South Lok Sabha seat.
Captain Gopinath, who had announced his decision to enter electoral politics last week, told here that he would file his papers as an Independent candidate.
Stating that the recent incidents of terrorist activities, including the attacks on Mumbai on November 26 last, had made him to enter politics, Captain Gopinath claimed that he had the backing of several Corporate heads in ICT, BT and other sectors.
Bangalore South Lok Sabha seat is one of the prestigious Parliament seats in Karnataka, from where BJP's National General Secretary and former Union Minister H N Ananthkumar is seeking re-election for a fifth successive term.
