Ketamine worth Rs 1.5 crore seized

Chennai: Customs officials in the courier cell of the air cargo complex seized ketamine worth Rs 1.5 crore from a plywood box carrying idols of Gods on Wednesday night.
The customs officials suspect that the box was bound for Malaysia. It read ‘idols in eight numbers’.
Upon opening the box, the idols made of paper mache were taken out, but the plywood box still felt heavy.
Further investigations revealed a hidden compartment in the box that had three polythene with white powder in it. The white powder was then confirmed to be ketamine Hydrochloride.
The seized substance weighed 15 kg and is estimated to be worth Rs 1.5 crore. Investigations also revealed that the sender address was fictitious.
