NACIL to add 30 aircraft to its fleet this fiscal

The National Aviation Company of India, the entity formed after the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines, will induct 30 aircraft in the current fiscal as part of its fleet expansion plans.
"We would take delivery of 30 aircraft in the current financial year," a NACIL spokesperson said.
NACIL, which runs the Air India brand, would induct seven Boeing B777s, four Boeing 737-800s and 19 aircraft of the Airbus A320 family comprising A319s, A320s and A321s. It currently has 153 planes in its fleet. Air India had placed orders for 111 aircraft for a total of Rs 40,000 crore from Boeing and Airbus to partly replace its ageing fleet and to expand its network.
The induction process, which began in 2007, would continue till 2012. Of the total order, 45 jets have already been taken. The airline currently has 14 long-haul B777s planes. With the delivery of seven B777s during the current financial year, the airline would increase its fleet of this aircraft by half.
