New Delhi: The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) may be planning to begin commercial operations of the new domestic departure terminal at the IGI Airport from April 19 but officials from the airlines claim they have not been informed of any shifting plans by the airport operator.
“We have come to know that DIAL is going to begin the commercial operations of the new departure terminal from April 19 but we have not received any information from them about shifting of operations,” an airlines official said on Tuesday. “Though our staff have taken part in the Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) trials to familiarise themselves with the new equipment and environment, it will still not be possible for us to shift at such short notice.”
DIAL has said that airlines would shift their operations from the old terminal building (1B) to the new one (1D) on the intervening night of April 18-19. “It will not be possible for us to shift in a short notice period,” the airline official said, adding there are many things that has to be taken care of.
Airline officials also alleged that they were being forced to pay for the shared infrastructure by the airport developers.
