Chennai: There has been a recent hike of 10 per cent in the parking and landing fee of aircraft at airports across India.
Airline operators have complained that it is an unfair move. It has sighting the losses the industry has incurred and has criticised the decision. Moreover, the AAI is planning to hike passenger service fee by 10 per cent.
Operators have said that at a time when the government should be supporting the airlines in their rough phase, they have hiked the fee.
The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has announced a $58-million relief package to help airlines struggling with dwindling demand, they said. The Airport Authority there has said it would cut 10 per cent of landing and parking charges until the end of the year, in a move worth 200 million Hong Kong dollars (US$ 26 million).
They are also deferring rental payments for about a year. But our AAI is on a different trip,” an airline source in Delhi told Express.
