Jet, 2 other airlines still stuck in 1B

New Delhi: Though the IGI Airport management had claimed that the new terminal 1D would be fully functional by the end of April, three airlines are still stuck in terminal 1B as 1D does not have a no objection certificate (NOC) from the fire department. The department had said that unless all work in the new terminal is not over, it will not issue an NOC and till then, airlines like Jet, Jetlite and Spice Jet will continue to operate from 1B.
Terminal 1D had begun operations on April 19 when Kingfisher, Kingfisher Red and Indigo Airlines had moved there. Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd (DIAL) had said the second phase of shifting would take place in a week or 10 days, once the first few airlines had settled down. "While three airlines were shifted here, the fire department refused to give an NOC since work was not complete at the terminal. Then the management decided to put on hold the transfer of the remaining airlines. We will issue an NOC only when all work on the terminal is complete. There are no other problems at the terminal except that work is still going on and a fire clearance cannot be given till it is complete,'' said R C Sharma, chief fire officer.
The new terminal had been inaugurated after several delays, in the last week of February but operations kept getting postponed due to several reasons.
