Jet shuts down offices outside India, lays off staff

Jet has shut down its offices at Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok and has issued a termination notice to the employees serving at these centres with effect from May 31. Nearly 100 employees have been terminated and these employees includes expats and people who were recently inducted and were under probation — these employees are likely to be compensated with Rs 1.5 lakh each, which includes Rs 55,000 that the employees had to pay to the company for training when they joined the company.
On the salary delay, a Jet Airways spokesperson, when contacted, said that the employees get salaries in the first week of every month. The airline also said that they will help employees who have been terminated find a new job. It also clarified that its operations in these cities won’t be affected.
