New Delhi: Low-cost carrier SpiceJet is planning to fly on new feeder routes that will connect smaller cities with the big ones and may deploy about six more aircraft for the purpose.
The new routes will feed high-volume destinations with traffic from smaller cities and the service is expected to take-off within a few months, after the assessment report for the purpose is finalised.
"We want to further strengthen our existing network... we right now fly to eighteen cities and not all are connected to each other... We fly to Pune, we fly to Ahmedabad, but we don't fly from Pune to Ahmedabad. Now we may connect these cities, with additional aircraft," SpiceJet CEO Sanjay Aggarwal told reporters.
The carrier has undertaken a study to identify the revenue potential of smaller cities.
