Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) organised a workshop for travel agents to provide information about various destinations and tourism products in Europe and America in the capital day before yesterday. The workshop was organised as a result of a decision taken after TAAI’s recent meeting with National Tourism Offices (NTOs) in Delhi and Mumbai to avail of training facilities for TAAI members in dealing with destination and product marketing in India apart from ticketing. TAAI will also organise the workshop on destinations in Africa and Asia, Australasia and MICE destinations. The Association will organise the workshop in metros and Tier II cities of India, informed Jagdeep Rikhy, Managing Committee member and Chairman, TAAI Tourism Council. However, the dates and cities for the workshops have not been finalised.
The workshop held in New Delhi was attended by representatives of international tourism boards such VisitBritain, Switzerland Tourism, San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau and Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation; products such as MSC Cruises and Globus & Cosmos; wholesalers such as Open World Holidays, Aman Worldwide, DewanHolidays.com and Narula Travels and national carrier Air India. Attendance crossed a figure of 60 representatives at the workshop, providing opportunities to travel agents, destination and product representatives to foray into the tour business jointly.
