Mumbai: The forgetfulness of a senior air hostess cost Air India (AI) 3,000 riyals (over Rs37,000) and caused a bit of inconvenience to its crew in Jeddah. The hostess was fined by the Jeddah immigration department as she had forgotten to take her passport on the flight.
On May 6, Rashi Malhotra (name changed), a senior air hostess was on duty on the airlines' Mumbai-Jeddah flight (AI-801). The flight landed in Jeddah at 11.40am. "After all the passengers left, the crew proceeded to the Jeddah immigration department for formalities. It was then Malhotra realised that she had forgotten to bring her passport," said a crew member.
In Saudi Arabian countries, crew members deposit their passport with the immigration and collect it while going back to India. They are issued an entry form by the immigration department which they have to return and collect their passports on their way back home.
