New Delhi: Air India employees across the country today showed their protest against the management's decision to defer the payment of their June salary by wearing black badges while at work.
"Agitating AI employees today wore black badges during work, as decided by the unions, to protest against the management's decision to defer payment of our June salary by a fortnight," George Abraham, general secretary of Aviation Industry Employee's Guild (AIEG) said over the phone from Mumbai.
About 24,000 AI employees, under the banner of three unions -- AIEG, Air Corporation Employee's Union (ACEU) and Indian Aircraft Technician's Association(IATA) -- had unanimously decided to wear black badges as mark of protest from June 22 to June 25.
The airline's chairman-cum-managing director, Arvind Jadhav would be meeting with the union members on June 25 and "based upon decisions taken at the meeting we will proceed further with our programme," Abraham said.
