Air India footballers won't feel the pinch, says official

New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhonis and Suresh Rainas may have to wait for their salary cheques due to the financial crisis plaguing Air India but its footballers would not feel the pinch, according to an official. At a time when the government is mulling a bailout package for the Maharaja of the skies, the Air India football club is gearing up to host trials for foreign recruits.
"We are yet to feel the pinch,"said a club official, requesting anonymity.
Dhoni and Raina are among innumerable sportspersons employed by Air India, which has decided to delay June's salary even as Aviation Minister Praful Patel held talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to resolve the crisis.
This, however, had little impact on Air India football team, the only side backed by a government company which has successfully managed to held on its won in the elite division.
