Airport ready to fight truant rains

Mumbai: There is no trace of monsoon as yet in Mumbai, but the city airport and various airlines are taking steps to }ensure rains do not inconvenience passengers.
While the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) is stocking up extra food and water to serve passengers during emergency, the airlines are making sure travellers are properly cared for in case of flight delays or cancellations.
The civil aviation sector is gearing up to face exigencies after the meteorological department warned of excessive rainfall in the city on June 24 and 25 and July 23 to July 25.
"We will send SMS alerts of flight delays/cancellations to passengers," said a spokesperson of Air India (AI).
In case a passenger reaches the airport late and misses his flight, certain airlines say they will try to make it easier for the passengers.
Officials of low-cost carrier Spicejet said, "Guests who reach late will have the option to get their flights rescheduled at no extra cost. Refreshments will be provided to guests in case their flights are delayed over 2 hnours. ...."
