Bangalore: The Rio de Janeiro-Paris Air France aircraft which mysteriously disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean, was in Bangalore just three days before it crashed with 228 people on board.
Flight 447 Airbus A330-203 aircraft bearing the registration number F-GZCP, which crashed into Atlantic after being hit by fierce storms on June 1, had landed and taken off from the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA), not once, but twice on May 26 and May 28.
Air France, which operates daily flights on the Bangalore- Paris route and vice versa, was at the BIA on both the dates, confirm air traffic control (ATC) officials at the BIA.
Vishwanath, general manager, ATC told The New Indian Express that the aircraft, bearing the registration number F-GZCP had landed at the BIA on both May 26 and May 28 before taking off to Paris on the same days.
“There is nothing strange that this particular aircraft had come to Bangalore last month. It could have come here may times earlier as well and could have done the same in other airports across the world,” he said. He added that no technical snags were reported when it landed at the BIA.
