Mayawati to get a plush new business jet next week

New Delhi: Flying Indian Air Force One may be her ultimate dream, but UP chief minister Mayawati is all set to get a fancy pair of wings. A brand new Hawker 900 XP is being prepared at a hangar at IGI airport’s domestic terminal side for being delivered to the UP government next week. With a list price of $15.5 million or nearly Rs 76 crore, this is the second most expensive jet built by US midsize business jet giant Hawker Beechcraft.
Among the aircraft manufactured by Hawker, only Hawker 4000 scores over the 900 XP in terms of price and performance. This aircraft can fly nonstop up to 5,240 km that covers distant places like Cairo, Moscow, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The Hawker 4000 has a range of 6,075 km that can take it nonstop to places like Tokyo and Budapest and costs $22.5 million or Rs 110 crore. While midsize business jets like Hawker can fly Delhi-London one stop, the high-end Gulfstreams that can dot its route nonstop cost about $50 million.
The UP government’s plane is parked at the hangar of InterGlobe Aviation, which is the sole sales and service agent for Hawker Beechcraft in SAARC region.
