Mumbai girl detained in Malaysia for suspected H1N1

Mumbai: A city-based flier was detained at Kuala Lumpur airport and quarantined for suspected H1N1 (swine-flu) infection on Saturday.
After 12 hours of medical check-ups, she tested negative. The passenger, Anjali Sankhe (name changed) took off from Mumbai at 11.00 pm on Friday. Three hours later, she landed at the destination with fever.
"When the airport officials learnt that she had fever, they asked her and her husband to wait at the airport for around an hour,'' said Sankhe's father. "When the fever did not go, the doctors at the airport insisted on taking her to the hospital and summoned an ambulance,'' he added.
Sankhe, who is on a honeymoon to south-east Asia, had to spend 14 hours in the hospital till her test reports came in. "During that period, she was not allowed to go anywhere. Her husband had to argue his way into the hospital to be with her,'' Sankhe's father said.
"She was confined to an isolation room all the while she was in the hospital,'' he added. Sankhe was found to be suffering from fever, which was not linked to swine-flu infection.
