AI plane develops technical snag, returns to Kochi

Kochi: An Air India Express Kochi-Dubai flight with 123 passengers on board developed a technical snag while airborne and had to hover in the air for about four hours before landing here safely early this morning, airport sources said.
They said Flight IX 435 took off from Kochi Airport at 8.30 PM last night. As the plane touched 30,000 feet, the pilot detected a problem with an engine valve. He had to burn off the fuel to reduce the landing weight to the appropriate level by hovering in the air, which he did for about four hours and touched down safely, they said.
The airline brought another flight from Mumbai, which left for Dubai at 8.
