Aurangabad: State chief minister Ashok Chavan said here on Tuesday that the state government has made a provision of Rs 250 crore to improve 23
state-held airports which will in turn boost industrial growth and development.
The announcement was made while he was addressing the 40th annual function of the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) to welcome its new office-bearers. He said improved airports will especially assist agro-based industries take their produce to other markets on the earliest.
The chief minister declared that an International Industrial Convention Centre will be set up in Aurangabad, jointly by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation and the Cidco. He also announced that the state will particularly encourage industries to set up their units in the backward Marathwada region.
Responding to various issues like growing industrial violence in the region, Chavan said, "It does not take time to sort out industrial disputes, if all people involved, especially the political parties, decide to sort it out. In fact, all political parties should come together to work for establishing industrial peace in this region."
He also commented on the growing number of engineering institutes in the state. "Education imparted here should be job-oriented and practical. The institutes should not produce unemployable graduates."
