New Delhi: The Air India management has affected several structural changes, including calling back several Regional Directors posted abroad and restructuring the Commercial Department, as part of its effort to cut costs and return to the black.
From September 1, the Executive Directors in Americas, Europe, West Asia and, Africa and Asia-Pacific will look after their regions from Mumbai. Officials claimed that it would be difficult to immediately quantify the monetary savings as a result of these steps.
The Commercial Department has also been restructured. The current Executive Director (Commercial), Mr Deepak Brara, has been made Executive Director for Corporate Strategy, and asked to draw up a road map for the airline and its subsidiaries for the next five years. Mr F. J. Vaz has replaced Mr Brara and is to look after market planning, projects, pricing and revenue management. Ms Rohita Jatika has been appointed Executive Director (Marketing, India region) and is to monitor traffic and conduct market research among other functions.
Mr Sunil Kishan will be Executive Director (South) based in Chennai from September 1 when the current incumbent retires, sources said.
