'Contraband was not seized from AI flight'

New Delhi: The revenue department has clarified that it made no seizure of controlled substance acetic anhydride from a Kabul-bound flight of Air India. In a communication to the civil aviation ministry, the customs department said seizure of the contraband, which was wrongly linked to Air India, was actually made on February 22 from the carriage of Kabul-bound Ariana Afghan Airlines flight No. FG316.
While acknowledging the error, the revenue department blamed it on Narcotics Control Bureau. Sources said the revenue department charged NCB with filing incorrect details, and plans to pursue the matter.
