Emirates announces Indian theme for its 2009 Melbourne Cup marquee

Emirates will spice up the birdcage at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival; with the diverse and alluring land of India being announced as the theme for this year’s Emirates marquee.
Stephen Pearse, Vice-President, Emirates Australia, said: “It certainly does not get much more exciting for a marquee theme than India.
“The Emirates marquee promises to bring everything that is India to life in the very heart of Flemington Racecourse.
“We look forward to welcoming our guests and taking the on a lively journey through this amazing destination, as they enjoy the thrill and excitement of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.”
The Emirates’ marquee will offer guests a variety of delectable dishes, which will use typical Indian ingredients including turmeric, ginger powder, asafoetida, coriander, cumin seeds, red chilly powder and garam masala.
Emirates’ marquee designers are using their travels through exotic Indian locations including Delhi, Udaipur and Jodhpur, to help influence the décor of the most opulent trackside setting at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
When guests step through the striking carved entrance of the marquee this year they can expect to see brilliant coloured saris, textured turbans, rustic swing seats and ancient artwork of Maharajas.
