Finally, Nagpur airport transfer to take off today

Nagpur: The long-awaited transfer of Nagpur airport, which was touted as the biggest hurdle in the Mihan project, is all set to become a reality on Tuesday. According to airport director SN Borkar the process started on Monday itself and would be completed by Tuesday morning.
Even the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court, which is hearing a petition on the subject was informed by the Maharashtra Airport Development Corporation (MADC) that Dr Babasaheb International Airport would be handed over to Mihan India Limited within a week as per Airports Authority of India (AAI) fax dated July 28. Accordingly, the transfer process started on Monday.
A division bench comprising justices AP Lavande and Pramod Kode has now directed AAI to file a reply on August 21. According to MADC, it has nominated project director Abid Ruhi to take over the assets of the airport from AAI executive director (planning). He will be assisted by assistant executive engineer S Shinde during the take over.
MADC has directed its officials to immediately start taking over charge from airport director Borkar by preparing an inventory of various movable and immovable assets in a proper manner, as the firm Ernst and Young values the assets. AAI will be communicating instructions on issues like revenue sharing later on.
The decision to transfer the airport came after Union civil aviation minister Praful Patel recently announced that it will be done in eight days.
