Govt caught napping at Sgr airport

Srinagar: Despite standing directions from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, at least 240 Kashmiri students from Pune landed at Srinagar airport and proceeded to their respective homes without being screened for the deadly Swine Flu virus.
Idrees Malik, a student of Bhartiya Vidya Peeth Pune told Rising Kashmir he was surprised when they were allowed to proceed to their respective places without any screening for H1N1 influenza in the Srinagar airport.
“We were also not screened at Mumbai Airport. When we told the doctors at the airport whether we have to undergo any screening they said there is no need and screening will take place at the destination airport. Barring us all the passengers reaching Mumbai airport from different places were screened for H1N1 influenza A symptoms,” said Muhammad Muzamil Mir, another student of Bhartiya Vidya Peeth Pune.
Sources in Srinagar international airport told Rising Kashmir that a plane carrying 240 passengers including 192 students and 48 visitors reached here from Pune via Mumbai in the afternoon. “Surprisingly, none of the passenger was screened for H1N1 influenza A symptoms, thereby giving a safe passage to possible cases of the contagious disease into the Valley,” they said.
All the passengers, sources said, were from Pune and had reached Mumbai by road on the same day where they boarded the plane to Srinagar. Surprisingly the passengers were also not screened at Mumbai Airport before they boarded the plane.
