IL&FS has submitted a proposal to the Aviation Minister for city side non-metro airport development, sources told CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal. It has asked the government to issue one tender for all 24 airports and has also proposed an extensive development of area around airports. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) asked IL&FS to provide further details on proposal.
Here is a verbatim transcript of Swati Khandelwal’s comments on CNBC-TV18.
What we pickup from sources is that IL&FS actually submitted and made a presentation to the Ministry of Civil Aviation saying that how they have actually backed the Airports Authority of India proposal wherein a single bidder or a joint bid should be called for all these airports – the 35 non-metro airports out of which for 24 non-metro airports have been identified for city side development will be open.
They have proposed that there should be a joint bid for all of them, so the ministry should actually open one tender for all these 24 airports at one time and hence there should be one entity that would be building or developing the city development part of the airport.
