Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss problems faced by the aviation sector. The minister is expected to make a detailed presentation to the Cabinet on Thursday.
Reeling under an acute crisis, the bleeding aviation sector has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Recently, the Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) had called upon the government to cut taxes on jet fuel and reduce airport charges and threatened to go on a strike, something which it called off later.
Patel discussed with the prime minister about a possible board rejig in case of Air India and said the PM was supportive of equity infusion in Air India.
