Ranchi-Patna air taxi service launched on eve of I-Day

Ranchi: The state's first air taxi took its first flight to Patna via Gaya on the eve of Independence Day. Spirit Air Private Ltd, a private air-taxi service provider, entered into an agreement with DTDS Travel and Tour Planner Pvt Ltd, to launch its services on Airport Authority of India (AAI) controlled airports like Ranchi, Gaya and Patna.
The air taxi has been launched with a brand name Indian Air Taxi. From Ranchi to Patna the passengers will be charged around Rs 5,685, while Ranchi-Gaya ticket is around Rs 3,395 per seat. The air taxi is a three-seater chartered plane. In a trip, maximum three passengers can be accommodated.
The flight has been scheduled thrice a week.
However, the first day of the launch of air taxi was not favourable in terms of profitability. The company incurred loss with only one passenger travelling in the first flight to Gaya from Ranchi. The flight returned empty from Patna to Ranchi.
