Air India charged of negligence

Kohima: According to a statement issued by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), an Air India flight (CD7701), bound for Dimapur from Kolkata with Union Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha Sangma, Thomas A. Sangma, MP and a good number of Americans and NBCC delegates on board, was delayed for more than an hour in unbearably hot conditions. The pilot of the plane reportedly went ‘missing.’
Further, the luggage could not reach Dimapur the same day while two NBCC delegates were forced to stay back in Kolkata as they were not issued boarding passes despite having confirmed tickets. According to the statement, the NBCC delegation consisting of 33 members was returning from a tour of Thailand and had booked the morning flight to Dimapur from Kolkata. The tickets were booked more than a month ahead and all the tickets were confirmed. The problems arose at the time when boarding passes were to be issued. The authorities claimed it to be due to ‘shortage of seats,’ it alleged.
Only after contacting the Duty Manager were they able to arrange four seats while two of the delegates had to stay back, the NBCC said and condemned the poor services of Air India, particularly of flight CD7701.
