Chennai: In an act of carelessness, a leading national airline failed to give a boarding call for one of its passengers bound to Delhi after issuing him a boarding pass.
The goof up happened when the Jet Airways flight 9W822 to Delhi combined its passengers with the Jet Konnect flight 2327 and cancelled the first flight. “I had checked in and was waiting in the security hold area. All the LCD screens were still flashing the flight number as 9W822 and there was no indication that the flight number had changed,” said Syed Zakir Ahmed, the passenger.
“That apart, the crew members did not even call my name for boarding which is generally the process if a passenger has not reported at the boarding gate. When my clock started showing a delay in the flight, I enquired and was told that the flight had already left under the 9W2327 banner. I was flabbergasted. They told me I should have looked at my boarding pass to get the details right and could not help me any further,” he said angrily. The airport manager on duty, Sundaram, told Express that the Jet crew had not made any announcements for the passenger neither had they informed the manager about the change in flight numbers.
