Bad tummy, can't fly

Chennai: What caused Jet Airways pilots to report sick on Tuesday? For the record, it was mostly loose motions. Stomach upset appeared to be the most common reason given. Other ailments, as reported by pilots to the roster department, included cramps, backache and migraine.
"I cannot be shuttling between the cockpit and toilet mid-air. Unlike fever or cold, loose motions are very difficult to diagnose even if the management sends a doctor to my home. I will be in the loo and won't be able to meet the doctor. Even if I show up, I can always tell him that now I am feeling better,'' said a standby pilot who called in sick on Monday.
Another pilot with a "splitting migraine'' said he was "sad'' that even an MRI could not always reveal the source of a headache. "For 48 hours, I can claim sick leave without a medical certificate,'' said the pilot who was to fly a morning flight.
Insiders confided that the sick leaves trickled in systematically since Monday night.
