Final verdict on Zero Commission on 30th September 2009 from DGCA

Hyderabad: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation in its meeting with the International Airlines and the travel agents held today has resolved to settle the zero commission issue on the 30th of September 2009. The meeting was attended by representatives from 16 Airlines and 3 travel agents association headed by Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) represented by its President Mr. Rajii Rai.
Acting on the directives of the Kerala and Karnataka High Court in regards to the ongoing communication between International Airlines and Travel Agents on the issue of non-payment of commission by the Airlines, the DGCA had earlier issued a letter to the Airlines raising questions if paying zero commission to agents and then asking customers to pay what was earlier being paid by the Airlines was anti- consumer. DGCA had given ample time to the Airlines to respond on this issue.
The Zero Commission issue has gone to the DGCA to be resolved on the non- payment of commission by International Airlines to travel agents.
DGCA will now approach the legal cell of the Government of India to seek its approval to be able to pass a verdict with regard to the zero commission.
