Bangalore: There is a ray of hope for those in favour of re-opening of the HAL Airport. The Centre has agreed to accept the report of the tripartite committee on re-starting operations at HAL and old Hyderabad airports.
It has directed the Airports Authority of India to take action in this regard.
During the hearing of a bunch of petitions challenging the closure of the HAL Airport in the High Court, Thiruvengadam - the advocate representing employees of the Airports Authority of India - informed the court that the Centre had agreed to accept the report of the tripartite panel.
The HC division bench comprising Justice K L Manjunath and Justice B V Nagaratna had directed the Airports Authority of India to clear its stand on the issue of re-opening the HAL Airport.
