India's MRO market to exceed US $1 billion in 2010

India’s MRO market is expected to be worth more than US $1 billion by the end of 2010.
That is the message coming from industry research firm, RNCOS.
The research report suggested that India would become a hub for MRO facilities, due, in part, to the arrival of low-cost airlines in the Indian aviation sector.
“The world’s leading aircraft manufacturers are now eyeing India to set up their MRO facilities. Airbus, Boeing and the government of Singapore are considering setting up MRO facilities in Gujarat,” said an online report.
Furthermore, the report highlights that growing passenger traffic will boost the demand of civil aircraft in India. Domestic passenger traffic is expected to surge by more than 75% to over 52 million passengers by 2016-17 from 2007-08, while the international air passenger traffic is estimated to rise from 21 million passengers to 33 million passengers during the same period, equating to a rise of around 57%.
