Jet Airways strike affects flights to UAE

Dubai: Jet Airways flights to the UAE are being disrupted as 600 pilots of the private Indian airline went on a simulated strike Tuesday.
Pilots union The National Aviators Guild threatened to to go on strike if two former pilots were not reinstated.
"Jet Airways has been in a conciliation process with the pilots. The Regional Labour Commissioner had categorically stated that any strike by the pilots during this pendency of conciliation would be deemed an illegal act as per the Industrial Disputes Act," the airline said in a statement.
To avoid the penalties, the pilots called in sick instead. While most of the airline's flights to Dubai seem to be arriving on time, one flight from Mumbai to Dubai was cancelled.
Reuters reports that a pilots union spokesman said they would continue to protest till they receive some assurance from management that the dismissed pilots would be reinstated.
