Kolkata Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattcharjee was stranded today in Siliguri as the Jet flight he was scheduled to board for Kolkata from Bagdogra airport had to be cancelled because of the ongoing strike by Jet Airways pilots.
The chief minister then headed back to at the government bungalow at Mongpung near Siliguri, where he has been putting up for the last three days.
As a result, Bhattcharjee will not be able to attend a scheduled programme at Rabindra Sadan on Friday in which accomplished people belonging to Scheduled Caste sand Scheduled Tribes are to be felicitated.
“There were other flights later but since they did not match with the chief minister’s programme, he preferred staying back. He will return on Friday morning,” a CM’s aide said.
