Mumbai: Some of the Air India executive pilots from Mumbai, who were on strike, decided to break ranks and join duty following a meeting with the airline chairman. Owing to the on-going agitation, around 30 domestic and international flights of the airline were cancelled on Sunday.
The pilots have been protesting against the management's decision to slash 25% to 50% of their productivity-linked incentives.
Though some executive pilots from Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai continued with the stir, Air India--going by the Mumbai-based pilots resuming duty--announced that it expected normality will return from Monday.
Among the flights cancelled were 17 services from Delhi, five each from Mumbai and Chennai and four from Kolkata.
The decision to resume work was taken after Air India chairman and managing director Arvind Jadhav called a meeting, which was reportedly attended by about 25-30 executive pilots. "The chairman has decided to set up a committee--comprising the pilots' representative and the executive director, finance--which will look into their grievances,'' said the spokesperson.
