Stir over but no smooth sailing for fliers

New Delhi: The agitating executive pilots of Air India called off their four-day strike on Wednesday but the passengers were disappointed to learn that flight operations continued to remain suspended till evening.
Under Delhi's curtailed schedule for Wednesday, 34 flights were to operate throughout the day but six flights were cancelled by 4.30 pm. However, later after pilots started reporting for duty, two more flights were added to the schedule bringing the total number of flights operating to 30.
However, since the situation was completely fluid till midnight, passengers still had to run around to ensure that they had valid tickets on other airlines after their Air India flights were cancelled. R K Chaudhury had a flight to Singapore via Mumbai at 7 pm. However, he was offered an alternate Jet Airways flight at 9 pm as his Air India flight was cancelled.
Meanwhile, as negotiations continued and the airline was unable to determine which flights would be operational till the last minute, several passengers ended up missing flights as they were unable to get the correct information.
