Striking pilots, management to meet today; impasse likely to end

New Delhi: Striking pilots of Jet Airways are hopeful as talks with the chief labour commissioner and the management will begin in New Delhi at 11 am on Friday.
Jet Airways and its pilots on Thursday night hammered out a broad understanding to break the deadlock over the pilots' stir raising prospects of a quick return to normalcy following a massive disruption of its flights since Tuesday.
The development came hours after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inquired about the crisis at the Cabinet meeting, which was given an update by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel.
The four-day strike has led to the cancellation of nearly 700 flights, costing hardships to over 28,000 passengers. About 150 flights across India were cancelled Friday.
