Thousands of passengers across India left stranded

Mumbai: The stalemate between the Jet Airways management and pilots left thousands of passengers across India stranded yet again on Wednesday.
On Day 2 of the impasse, the airline’s ticket counter at the Mumbai domestic airport had fewer passengers trickling in for cancellations. The rush had already shifted to the counters of other carriers, as passengers juggled cancellations, refunds and new bookings.

Jet Airways Flights Update: Sept 10, 2009

While Jet said it was able to accommodate half its 14,000 affected passengers nationally on other carriers, the situation was made worse for those forced to hunt for seats. With the rush for new bookings starting on Tuesday, there were few seats available on almost every carrier on Wednesday. The odd open seat — even in low-cost carriers — was being sold for a bomb. Around 2,500 passengers were affected in Mumbai.
Passengers also had a tough time negotiating with Jet Airways for refunds. None of the passengers who had cancelled their tickets received the amount immediately. Since most of them had either booked online or through a travel agent, the airline insisted on refunding either to the credit card account or the travel agent.
While the airline did better on Wednesday with transferring passengers to other flights or handing out refund coupons, many passengers still claimed that no intimation was being sent about flight cancellations.
