"He was rarely given chance to exercise any authority"

Mumbai: Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, chief executive officer (CEO) of Jet Airways, is set to disembark from the airline he boarded six years back in 2003.
According to sources, the Jet chief will not be renewing his contract with the airline, when it comes up for renewal later this year.
The source said Prock-Schauer does not want to extend his term with Jet and is most likely to join a European airline.
When DNA contacted Jet's spokeswoman, she could neither confirm nor deny the development.
"While in power, he was rarely given chance to exercise any authority and was under constant scrutiny from the top management," said a senior Jet executive, who did not want to be named.
Another Jet official said, despite Prock-Schauer's long association with the airline, his his rapport with staff was not good. While at the helm of affair, he had taken some unpopular decision that did not go down well with the employees.
One such incident was when the management, under his command, had taken the decision to fire 800 cabin crews in 2008.
