IAF Chopper Crashes in Chenab

Srinagar: Four people, including the pilot of an Indian air force (IAF) are feared dead in a chopper crash in mountainous Doda district on Friday.
Sources said that an MI-17 helicopter of Indian Air force was on its way to Doda from Jammu on Friday afternoon when it crashed near Assar area of Doda district before falling down into river Chenab.
The ill-fated chopper, sources said, was carrying four people including two pilots on board.
Sources said, soon after the incident, Army started operation in the area to rescue the missing crew.
Army pressed into service two choppers in the rescue operation that was also assisted by 10 Rashtriya Rifles, paramilitary CRPF and the police. During searches, sources said, the joint party recovered the body of a wing commander. However, the fate of the other three inmates was unknown. Sources said that the joint party has not been able to locate the wreckage of the crashed chopper.
