New Delhi: Passengers of a Spice Jet flight from Delhi to Varanasi on Saturday afternoon took more than 2.5 hours to reach their destination after boarding the flight, a journey normally only about an hour long. Ironically, they spent more time on ground than in the air as their aircraft reportedly developed a technical snag just before they were scheduled to take off for Varanasi.
According to sources, SG 114 was scheduled to take off at 2.10pm on Saturday. Passengers boarded the flight at 2pm but the aircraft showed no signs of moving till atleast 2.30pm. Aditya Mathur (name changed), a passenger on board the flight, said that the crew kept telling them that there was an air traffic control (ATC) related problem due to which the delay happened.
Even as airport sources confirmed that the airline had officially reported a technical error, airline sources said that there had been a delay due to "ATC problems''.
