Air India pilots postpone strike to Nov 30

New Delhi: The threat of Air India flights being disrupted has been pushed back by a week with sections of the airline pilots deferring their proposed strike to November 30.
“In view of national interest, the management seeking more time and intervention of the Chief Labour Commissioner we have deferred the strike. We will serve a notice on the management later tonight pointing out that if our demands are not met, then from midnight of November 30, pilots will go on strike,” the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) President, Capt Shailendra Singh told newspersons after a more than six-hour meeting with senior airline officials. Pilots had earlier threatened to go on strike from November 24.
The agitating pilots are seeking wage revision and parity in wages with other pilots and an inquiry into the mismanagement of the company.
The ICPA President evaded a direct reply to a question of whether a change of management is being sought by the pilots.
