New Delhi: The government on Wednesday asked all airlines to deploy their CAT-II/III compliant aircraft during fog hours in the morning to reduce congestion and passenger inconvenience at the airport here during the winter season.
Issuing guidelines in this regard, the Civil Aviation Ministry conducted a meeting with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airport operator -- Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Airports Authority of India (AAI), India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the airlines about their preparedness in the wake of the upcoming fog season.
Under the guidelines, airlines have been advised to file separate fog schedule for CAT-II/III compliant aircraft in their fleet from December 10 this year to February 10 next year, so that they could be put in the morning slots, between 0500 hours and 1000 hours when the fog is dense.
The airlines have also been asked to shift the approved departure or arrival slot of non-CAT II/III aircraft after 1000 hours in coordination with the airport operator.
Further, the DGCA has told the airlines to provide updates on flight delays and information to the passengers through call centres, auto dialers and Short Message Service (SMS).
According to the guidelines, clearance to an aircraft which fail to taxi out within five minutes of start up shall be cancelled. The Air Traffic Control shall also intimate the expiry time while issuing the start up clearance.
