Imphal: As a preparatory step towards full scale operation of night landing at the Tulihal Airport, a trial night flight landing will be carried out in the last week of the current month.
According to Transport Minister L Jayentakumar, the trial night landing will be done under the supervision of Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials after the AAI formally intimated to the State Government on its preparedness to go ahead with the trial run.
Explaining that the AAI is supposed to issue a certificate signalling infrastructure preparedness for aeroplanes to land at night on completion of the trial landing, the Minister said through the Resident Commissioner of Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi technical and all other aspects with regard to Tulihal Airport are being coordinated.
Recounting Prime Minister Dr Manmohan's assurance that Tulihal Airport would be upgraded to facilitate night landing, jayentakumar said that in connection with infrastructure development the State Government had already complete installation of Solar Power Obstructing Light at five locations.
