Jet Airways pilots’ union de-registered

Mumbai: The Mumbai labour commissioner on Friday de-registered the National Aviators Guild (NAG), a pilots’ union at Jet Airways (India) Ltd, for “misrepresentation” of facts. The union in September led a work stoppage that crippled operations at India’s largest private sector airline for at least five days.
“The NAG has been de-registered on grounds of misrepresentation of facts. Wrong information was given (by them),” labour commissioner N.V. Palve said on Friday.
Jet Airways’ pilots launched the agitation after two of them were fired in August after they formed the NAG and registered it with the labour commissioner’s office. Two more pilots were dismissed in September after the agitation.
NAG officials, requesting anonymity, said that they had not yet received any formal communication from the commissioner’s office.
