Surat: The first ever aero modelling and model car racing meet, which concluded after three days at CK Pithawala College ground here on Sunday, was an exhilarating experience not only for the 70-odd participants, including 28 pilots, but also for the local population. The organizers now plan to host an international meet in the city soon.
Prizes were given to the winners in various categories who flew different aircraft models such as Jets, amphibian planes and fighters belonging to World War II era.
Zakhi Ansari of Wings India, Mumbai, who flew 250 cc Boomerang Jet, won the Jet category prize where as Vasi Ansari of the same club got it in the advanced fliers and night flying category. Rajesh Patel won the prize in the choppers category whereas Punit Tala won in the intermediate category for his twin engine amphibian model Catalina.
Apoorva Patel, who was flying his 8CC trainer craft, was adjudged winner in the beginner's category. In the junior category, three local boys Param Patel (8.5 years), Shrutant Pal (7.5), and Aahan Patel (6.5), won the first three awards for their display with trainer 8CC aircraft.
