EADS opens research branch in Bangalore

Bangalore: European aerospace and defence group, EADS on Friday opened its research and technology branch here, its third outside Europe, to take up joint projects in the areas of engineering and information technology.
EADS Innovation Works India would manage and broker research and technology projects for the EADS business units and corporate R & T organisation, top company officials told a press conference here.
Some of the projects to be carried out by EADS Innovation Works India would be performed in collaboration with Indian partners such as the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Technology, the company said.
It will also run its own projects using internal resources at its own facilities, officials said. The projects would capitalise on Indian capabilities identified by EADS in various fields: numerical simulation of complex physical systems, multi-disciplinary optimisation, high-performance computing and radar technology, EADS Chief Technical Officer Jean Botti said.
