Ahmedabad: The office of Jet Airways India Ltd in Ratnam building on Ashram road was burgled of Rs1 lakh in the wee hours of Tuesday.The thieves initially broke open the lock of the back door of the office. They then took the key from the drawer and opened the safe in which the money was kept.
According to a complaint registered by accountant Neeraj Parekh, with the Naranpura police station, the keys to the safe were usually kept in the possession of staff members. The complaint said that the thieves used one of the keys to open the safe of the office.
Parekh has said in his complaint that the safe can be opened with four keys. The four keys are in the possession of four staff members including him.
Parekh said that he fell ill on December 7 because of which he had passed on his key to another staff member.However, he received a call on the morning of December 8 saying that somebody had broken into the office. Upon reaching the office, he found that the key that had been placed in his drawer by a staff member had gone missing. The safe containing cash was also found to be open. The complainant said that Rs1.23 lakh was found missing from the office.
